Section 59 - Notice For Speeding - Warning

Section 59 - Notice For Speeding - Warning

Section 59 - Notice For Speeding - Warning

A few weeks ago I was travelling on a quiet stretch of road in the early hours of the morning when a car turned into the junction behind me.
The car was about a half a mile behind me.

I noticed it was coming on me at speed and after so long I realised it was a police car.
It was then that I pulled over, even though they still never caught up to me.
I was asked three times what speed I was doing and each time I replied 30 MPH.
They had no way of knowing how fast I was going.

The policeman then got out the car after calling me a liar and I could see he was in a bad mood and possibly going to do me for something.
He done his checks then said he was going to issue me with a Section 59 warning for speeding.
I asked what sort of recording equipment they were using and he said he just had to suspect that I was speeding :o

After checking I found out there is no right to appeal.
The warning is nothing really, no costs involved and no points but your car gets put on their computer database.
Basically, they said if I am pulled again within the next 12 months for anything they would take the car.
I then would have to pay £150 to get it back!

I never broke any law as there was no victim.
I wasn't even speeding - they were!
Obviously, if I am doing 30 MPH, they will have to speed to catch up a half a mile!

The copper says that if I had admitted to driving over the limit he would have just let me go with a bit of advice.
How do I know what games the police play?
If I said I was going over the limit, I would have admitted to an offence but would be let off.

The act which allows the police to dish out this sort of intimidation needs to be repealed.
If not, then bit by bit, they will get more "powers" and the police state will come that much closer.

Apparently you will get S59 for anything they suspect you of while in charge of a car.
This could be causing distress or alarm for making noise in one ie playing loud music or revving too hard up a steep bank!

So, what is this all about?
Well, when they have no evidence of an offence they give you this warning.
After that, and without committing any crime or offence, if they "suspect" you of doing anything wrong, they take your car.
They couldn't get your money on the first suspicion, but on their second one, they can.

If that doesn't tell you that the police are nothing but a business and out for cash, I don't know what will.

They just need "reasonable" suspicion that you were speeding.
I met a woman tonight who was issued a S59 last year.

Yes indeed!
Then they can take a dislike to you and have "reasonable" suspicion that you done anything.
Its about time they got rid of these "powers".
Here you have civil servants that are given the right to report their masters without any evidence :headscratch:
Honestly, how can we sit back and allow there people to rise above us?

It will teach you right for speeding :poke:
Seriously its the police just flexing their muscles because they have nothing better to do than to be seen to do something.
Take pictures of them parking in illegal places like on pavements and double yellow lines and video them going to the shops. Put them all on the internet and see how they like it!
