The Sugar Tax

This is how the system works. Firstly, the parasites enslave us. Then they force us to pay them a proportion of the money we earn through our blood, sweat and tears. But, do we have to pay taxes, VAT or national insurance etc?

The Sugar Tax

Post by Crab »

The Sugar Tax

Here's what is going to happen in the UK.
The government is going to tax sugary drinks according to the level of sugar that is included in them.
There appears to be two levels - more than 5g per 100 millilitres and more than 8g per 100 millilitres.
It will be levied at 18p and 24p per litre.
This will add around 8p - 12p per can.

This will all kick into force in 2018 and will raise millions for the government while taking choices off the consumer.
They reckon that it will cost the £1 billion to put the plan into action.

Their excuse to tax these sugary drinks is that they think it is adding to the child obesity problem.

So here we have it - more ways in which the UK government want a slice of the action - just like the carrier bag tax (and it was a tax).

Like the carrier bags given away by the billions, the government want their cut.
Now they can tax cans of pop and grab even more money.
Keep the bastards honest.

Forget about the sob story of how much it will cost to set the sugar tax up.
They will be raking the money in.
This government is giving nothing away.

So these idiots will tax my energy drinks now.

Listen to the words of "Tax Man" by The Beatles and you will soon see that taxing everything is a possibility.
They really would tax the air that we breathe - lets face it they tax the food we eat and the things we drink.
Why not the air?

I think there will be a stealth tax that already exists.
For instance, cleaning up the environment has costs which we are taxed for so clean air has a tax added to it some way.

The soft drinks companies can and will adjust to the new sugar tax by using sweeteners.
There are others who may not be able to adjust and that will be the energy drinks companies.
There may be other ways of making those drinks instead of using sugar so its up to them to look into that unless they already have.
Keep the bastards honest.

The sugar tax is unfair in that it takes away our choices.
You could all drink milk instead and get a nice daily dose of calcium
