How to deal with the Television Licence goons

This forum is for all licensing matters, for example, the driving licence or TV licence. The American spelling is license but they mean the same thing - a con! Moreover, when you apply for one, you are begging them to give it to you.

How to deal with the Television Licence goons

Post by Top Cat »

How to deal with the Television Licence goons.

The BBC is a corporation ie the British Broadcasting Corporation.
As a company, the BBC it is separate from any other firm, but the government decided to try and force you to subscribe to them.
They do this by saying you must buy a licence if you watch live TV broadcasts whether you watch the BBC or not!
The BBC uses another company called Capita to administer the collection of the licence fee. Capita uses some subcontractor to help them to breach your peace.

They have made the public believe that they will be breaking the law by not paying for a licence.
There is no law that requires you to pay for a television licence.
To break the law, there has to be a victim.
No victim - no crime!

The best way to deal with the television licence people is by not communicating with them (BBC or Capita) in any way.

Never reply to their letters.
Never send their letters back - rip them up without opening them
Never write to them
Never phone them.
Never email them.
Never visit their website or interact online with them in any way.

They will no doubt come to your door because they have a database of all the addresses where there is no licence. The DVLA does not come to your door to ask if you have a car so why should these people come and ask if you have a TV?
So, if you can't protect your boundary and they manage to knock on your door, the best way to deal with them in person is as follows.

Never open the door to them.
If you do open the door accidentally, just shut the door on them without speaking.
Never speak to them in person.
Never sign anything from them

As always, you should have a camcorder available for any cold callers.
No cold caller likes to be filmed.
Film them from your upstairs rooms while they trespass on your property.
Try and note down the registration of the vehicle they are in.

Good advice Top Cat.
I think this is probably the best advice.
What your guide is saying is don't allow any joinder whatsoever.
Its probably the best advice on the television licence people.
Keep the bastards honest.

No communication - no joinder - no contract - no snooker.

Wise words.
If you don't talk to the television licence people then they will just go away.
Who do they think they are knocking on your door asking if you have a licence for something you don't have.
Talk about taking liberties!

Its certainly one of the best ways to deal with the television licence people.
These people seem to think they have some sort of authority
I soke to one before when I was naive and after I gave him a load of crap he finally said "can I come in".
When he said that he looked like he was going to try and come in the house.
I said "wow, wow", put my hand up and told him that nobody was coming in my house.
He went with his tail between his legs after he knew he couldn't sell me a licence.

Wouldn't it be dishonourable to ignore someone?
I am not arguing with the advice here - it sounds good to me.
Just wondering about acting in honour.

You are not obliged to be honourable though.
These company employees are invading your space.
They are violating your privacy and in many cases, trespassing on your property.
As I pointed out earlier on the freedom forum - to violate is to rape - both of those words mean the same!
What do you do to those people who do that?
Don't talk to them and you will not get joinder with them.
