Norway goes digital and switches off FM transmitters

In a move which has angered a lot of Norwegians, the FM transmitters have been turned off in northern Norway.
Over the next few months all of Norway will have no FM transmitters.
Norway is switching from FM to Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) radio.

Not everyone is happy because only 70% of households have DAB at this time!
Most car drivers will have to fork out for a DAB radio in their cars too!

DAB is far better in many respects but to do things in one go would obviously upset the natives.
Whatever the reasons, the government has imposed this upon the Norwegians without their consent.
This is true because most Norwegians oppose the move.

I suspect we all will switch over from FM to digital once Norway has proved that it can be done.
In fact, the UK and Denmark is watching the switch over carefully.

Poor FM radio I loved it.
I wonder if we do still have it in say 10 years' time.

The static you hear on FM apparently comes from space.
DAB radio doesn't have this noise.
