Finders keepers - police say not true or is it?

You only live once, therefore we can do other things and chill out while we are seeking our freedoms. So, this forum is for topics with no connection to lawful rebellion, freeman-on-the-land, money or conspiracy theories etc.

Finders keepers - police say not true or is it?

According to an article in The Guardian they have written a statement by the police which says "it is up to the individual what they do if they find any amount of cash – there is no requirement to hand over money you find, or even any other items." A spokeswoman for the Association of Chief Police Officers says: "There are no laws that I am aware of governing what you should do with a find – it is down to your conscience. However, if an item can be traced as it includes information about the owner, such as a mobile phone or handbag, then you might want to make sure to hand it in."

However, Nicole Bailey, aged 23, from Stoke in the UK was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £175 legal costs for pocketing a £20 note she found.

Nicole found the money in a shop but was traced when the one who lost it told the shopkeeper who looked at his CCTV images and police were called.

Well this story proves that everything is not black and white but also the police don't know the law.

It's only when it suits isn't it ... find it, keep it!
However, if you can trace the owner without any inconvenience to yourself, do it.
When it comes to money anyone can say it's theirs.
