Shopping Bag - 5p Tax
If anyone in the UK goes shopping and needs a carrier bag to take their shopping home they will now be charged 5p for the privilege.
Prior to October 2015, people in England were given their plastic shopping bags for free.
New rules dished out by the traitors in Westminster state that all shops with more than 250 employees must not charge at least 5p for their carrier bags.
They call it a charge - we call it a tax!
The profit from this is supposed to go to charity.
They allegedly brought in the charge as a means of cleaning up the environment.
Around 7.6 billion single use carrier bags were used before the charge was introduced.
It stands to reason that with those figures, the greedy ministers in their Ivory Towers will have wanted to stick their noses in.
There is no doubt that some people have been irresponsible with the use of the bags and helped to increase pollution.
However, that is another matter that should be dealt with.
I have never bought a shopping bag since the charge was brought in and wont ever pay it.
I am not being taxed unnecessarily and the shops don't even want to charge it!
You don't need to pay the charge for uncooked fish, uncooked meat and poultry, takeaways, loose seeds and flowers, unwrapped blades, including axes, knives, and knife and razor blades, prescription medicine and goldfish.
One discount store has decided to get around the "law" in a novel way however.
Card Factory has found that if it cuts off the handles then they don't need to charge you!
But if you want to buy a shopping bag with the handles on that's not a problem, they will serve you one.
Hats off to Card Factory for coming down on the side of the people.
