That's a lot of jobs to lose over a carrier bag tax :o
I suppose with the dramatic reduction in the demand for the humble, once free, carrier bag it was inevitable.

Job losses were inevitable considering such a dramatic loss in sales.
Its only natural but the factory should have been well prepared for that.
Shame on those responsible though!

The government was responsible for those job losses so it should be them who should help those that have lost their jobs.

Every time I visit the shops now they ask if I want a carrier bag ffs.
They should be offering those paper bags without handles and help the shopper.

Paper bags break down easily in the environment so why can't the shops have offered these?
I actually remember when some carrier bags were made from paper.
I haven't bought a 5p carrier bag since the new regulations came in and wont do so if its not necessary in future.
