Antacid Drugs - Linked To Dementia
It appears that what we have considered a pretty much friendly drug may be linked to dementia.
Studies in Germany have not been too conclusive as they did not take other factors into account.
However, there seems to be a link because taking these antacid remedies can cause vitamin B12 deficiency.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can lead to irreversible side effects and dementia could be one.
It mainly concerns the drugs known as protein pump inhibitors (PPIs).
You don't need a prescription for some.
Esomeprazole, lansoprazole and omeprazole are just some of the PPI's that millions of people use regularly.
So, next time you have heartburn have a good think about this
